Cross-border tax · US & Canada

US–Canada cross-border tax, both sides in one place.

Cloud Accounting prepares US and Canadian tax returns for people and businesses with ties to both countries: Americans in Canada, Canadians with US income or property, snowbirds, people moving between the two, and Canadian owners of US companies. Both returns are prepared together by Di Lu, a CPA in both countries, so income, tax paid and credits line up.

Common questions

Short answers here. For your own situation, ask at a consultation.

Book a consultation
Do I need to file in both countries?

Often, yes. US citizens and green card holders generally file US returns wherever they live, and income from one country often has to be reported in the other. We confirm what applies to you at your consultation.

Can you prepare both returns?

Yes. Preparing them together means the same income is reported consistently, and foreign tax credits are claimed on the right return.

Can I talk to you before I move?

Yes. Share your dates and plans. Planning before a move is usually simpler than fixing things after it.

How much does cross-border work cost?

It depends on the returns you need in each country. You get a quote after your consultation, before any work starts.
